FAQ

Our cabinets

What are RTA cabinets and their benefits?

RTA (Ready-To-Assemble) cabinets are kitchen cabinets that come unassembled and require assembly before installation. They are shipped in flat-packed boxes, which include all the necessary components such as the cabinet box, doors, drawers, hardware, and screws. RTA cabinets are designed to be easy to assemble, typically requiring only basic tools like a screwdriver or drill, wood glue, a rubber mallet, and sometimes a stapler.

The benefits of RTA cabinets include:

  • Quicker Shipping: They can be shipped faster compared to pre-assembled cabinets.
  • Cost-Effective: Generally, they are more affordable than assembled cabinets.
  • Storage and Space Efficiency: Easier to store and take up less space on a job site.
  • Flexibility: You can assemble one cabinet at a time, making the process manageable.

Should I purchase RTA or Assembled cabinets?

The choice between RTA and assembled cabinets depends on your comfort level and availability:

  • RTA Cabinets: Ideal for DIY enthusiasts who are comfortable with assembling furniture and want to save money.
  • Assembled Cabinets: Better for those who prefer convenience, are not comfortable with assembly, or do not have the time to put the cabinets together.

Is there an advantage to ordering kitchen cabinets online?

Yes, ordering kitchen cabinets online offers several advantages:

  • Convenience: Shop from the comfort of your home.
  • Wider Selection: Access to a broader range of finishes and styles.
  • Competitive Pricing: Often more competitive than in-store options.
  • Customer Reviews: Benefit from reading other customers’ experiences and feedback.

Do you offer assembly for the RTA cabinets?

Yes, we offer some RTA cabinet lines assembled for an additional 20%. On the product page, you can switch from "Unassembled" to "Pre-Assembled" using the toggle on the top left-hand side, for the lines that offer this option. Use this link for clear instructions.

Samples

Should I order a sample door?

Yes, we strongly recommend ordering a sample door before placing your full kitchen order. This allows you to see the actual color, door style, and quality in your own kitchen's lighting. Finishes—whether stained, painted, or wrapped—can look different on your screen compared to real life.

We offer sample doors for $14.99 each, and get refunded when placing your kitchen order. We credit up to two sample doors when you place your full kitchen order.

Enter your name and email address, and you’ll receive a link to your cart. You can do this for multiple carts and it will save each one.

Can I order more than one cabinet style in a single order for the same shipping rate?

Yes, you can combine different cabinet styles for the same shipping rate as long as they ship from the same warehouse. However, if your order ships from two different warehouses, the online quoted rate may not cover the shipping cost, and the order might not qualify for free shipping unless each style is eligible. We will contact you before processing the order to confirm the details. You can also reach out to us to check if your mixed order qualifies. If you are ordering different colors from the same collection, like Essex White and Essex Truffle, they will ship together and be eligible for free shipping or the same rate if under $2500

Can I cancel or revise an order?

Once an order ships, it cannot be canceled. After placing the order but before it ships, revisions are generally not possible. If cancellation is necessary, a 25% restocking fee will apply to cover warehouse handling, processing, and credit card fees.

What should I do If I receive damaged or missing parts?

When your order arrives, carefully count and examine all packages at the time of delivery. If you find any missing items, note them on the delivery receipt before signing and email the list to our Customer Service Department at customerservice@rtawoodcabinets.com. RTA Wood Cabinets cannot be held responsible for missing items if they are not noted on the delivery receipt at the time of delivery.

For damaged items, make sure to document the damage on the delivery receipt before signing for the delivery. If you discover concealed damage, notify us within 3 days so we can arrange for a replacement of the damaged parts or product at no additional cost to you.

Typically, we will send a replacement part for damaged items rather than a whole new cabinet. For example, if a door is cracked, we will replace just the door, not the entire cabinet. For large items like 4x8 panels, which are prone to minor damage during shipping, we generally provide a replacement only if the damage is significant and affects the usability of the panel. If the panel can be used by cutting it down to fit your project, we may not send a replacement. Please be sure to note any damage on the delivery receipt to facilitate this process.

Should I assemble or install my cabinets If something is damaged or if I’m waiting for a missing part?

No, you should not assemble or install any cabinets that are damaged or missing parts. The claims department requires unassembled and uninstalled cabinets for accurate assessment and replacement. Assembling or installing damaged cabinets may void your ability to receive replacement parts, as the manufacturer cannot verify if the damage occurred during assembly, installation or before you received them. Please keep all damaged cabinets unassembled until customer service confirms it is okay to proceed with assembly.

Will I be reimbursed for labor or time spent repairing damaged cabinets?

RTAWoodCabinets.com is responsible for providing replacement parts if needed, but we are unable to reimburse any additional costs for labor or time spent by the customer on repairing or replacing damaged cabinets.

Shipping / Returns

What is the typical delivery time?

Most RTA cabinet orders are delivered within 2 weeks, while assembled orders can take up to 3 weeks. Some lines ship out in 2-5 business days, with an option to rush out in 1 day for a shorter delivery time. Please check under Shipping by each individual collection for exact lead times.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is Free for orders over $2500. Shipping costs will be calculated at checkout based on your order total. For an accurate shipping quote, especially for large items like pantry or oven cabinets, or if your location is far from our warehouse, please give us a call. We can provide a custom quote based on your order size and shipping destination.

If you order more than one style and it ships from two different warehouses, there may be additional shipping costs. Additionally, if the shipping rate doesn't cover the actual cost due to the size or distance, we will contact you before processing the order to provide the correct shipping cost.

Can I handle my own shipping?

We work with 3rd party logistics companies, that allow us to get some low rates on shipping. We try to get the best rates possible for our customers. You can handle your own shipping if you secure a better rate. You will be responsible for creating the paperwork, arranging pickup, and filing any claims with your carrier for visible or concealed damage. Please reach out to us to set up this arrangement.

Where do you ship from and to?

We ship from multiple distribution centers across the US, including CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, MA, NJ, SC, TX, and UT. We ship to locations all over the continental US. For international shipments, please contact us directly.

How are the cabinets delivered and will I be notified?

Cabinets are shipped with a common carrier, who will contact you in advance to set up a delivery appointment. Deliveries are curbside, meaning the carrier will leave the items at the curb off the main street. You will receive an email with tracking information once your cabinets ship.

How do I accept my delivery and do I need to be home?

If your order ships with a freight company, you must be home to accept the delivery, look over the items and note any issued on the delivery slip before signing. Click this link to view the complete delivery instructions. The freight company will charge a re-delivery fee if no one is available to receive it. For small items that ship ground, no signature is required, and the order will be left at your home.

How should I prepare for a delivery?

Ensure you have a few extra days from the delivery date to when you need to install the cabinets or schedule your contractor. This allows time to address any issues like damaged parts or missing items. Make sure someone is available to help carry the cabinets inside, as deliveries are curbside.

What do I need to do when the cabinets are being delivered?

·  Piece Count and Verification:

Conduct a thorough piece count to ensure all ordered items are present (unless you've been informed of any out-of-stock items). Some items, like crown molding and fillers, may be packaged together.

If possible, open any accessory boxes while the driver is present to verify all pieces.

Note any missing items on the BOL. Ensure you get a copy of the BOL with the driver's signature and that the driver has a copy noting any shortages. This is essential for processing any replacement
orders. Without these notes, we cannot reship missing items free of charge.

·  Checking for Visible Damage:

Inspect each box for visible damage. The trucking company must allow you to check the exterior of each box for any cracks, dents, or holes. You do not need to open each box, but you should thoroughly examine the outside.

If the driver refuses to wait for you to check the boxes, contact the trucking company using the number provided on the BOL or call us directly. Explain that you need to note any visible damage on the BOL, and the driver is not cooperating (this situation is rare).

Boxes are inspected in the warehouse before shipping, but the trucking company assumes responsibility for any damages during transit. Replacements for damaged items can only be approved if the damages are noted on the BOL at the time of delivery.

What is your return policy?

To initiate a return, you must contact us within 7 days of delivery. Returns must be authorized by one of our representatives. All returned items must be unassembled and in their original, unopened packaging. A 25% restocking fee applies to all returns.

The customer is responsible for shipping the items back to us including the cost and for the original freight cost if the order was shipped for free. Items must be received in resellable condition; otherwise, no credit will be given. Assembled cabinets, sample doors, trim, and moldings cannot be returned.

Cabinet Details

Are the sides of the cabinets finished to match, or do I need to order finished sides?

Most of our cabinet collections come with finished sides. However, for the following collections, you will need to
order finished sides separately:

Harbor Collection: Natural, Black, blue, Brown, and Green colors require finished skins. They get installed behind the face frame bump-out so no additional space is required.

Polar, Milano, Versailles, and Matrix Collections: Require finished sides to be selected. They are exchanged for the actual side panel so no additional space is required.

Euro Collections: Require a finished side panel for each side of the cabinet box, which will add 3/4" to the width of the cabinet.

If you're unsure whether your chosen collection requires finished sides, please consult with our customer service
team for guidance.

Do you sell glass doors?

We do have glass door options in a lot of the collections, some collections come with prepped for glass cabinets and we offer to have the doors prepped for glass in most of the assembled collections.

Do you sell just the doors?

Unfortunately we do not sell just doors by themselves. The only exception to that are the decorative end panels, but they only come in widths that would fit on the sides of the cabinets. If you are ordering a full kitchen and need a few doors we can get it in some of the collections.

What is a decorative end panel?

A decorative end panel is a cabinet door that is applied to the side of the cabinet to mimic the look of a door. It will finish off the cabinets with a custom look but are not required.

Are the cabinets strong enough to hold granite or any stone?

All of our cabinets lines are more than strong enough to hold granite or stone.

No, there is no minimum order requirement at RTA Wood Cabinets. We accommodate kitchens of all sizes, whether you need just two cabinets or a kitchens for a 100+ unit project.

warranty

Is there a warranty?

Yes, we offer a warranty on our
cabinets, which varies by collection:

Highland, Oxford, Casselberry Elegant, Fashion, Richmond, Polar, Milano, Versailles, and Luxor Collections: Limited Lifetime Warranty

Essex, Trenton, and Yarmouth Collections: 5-Year Warranty

Horizon, Sterling, Avalon, and Harbor Collections: 3-Year Warranty

Amesbury, Upton Brown, and Harbor Collections: 1-Year Warranty

The manufacturer may choose to repair or replace any product covered by these warranties. Please note that
natural variations in wood grain and color may cause your cabinets to differ
slightly from the original sample or from each other, as these are inherent
characteristics of wood. Additionally, wood naturally expands and contracts
over time, which may result in minor hairline cracks or finish stress lines on painted or stained doors. These changes are not considered defects but are part of the natural behavior of wood.
